The Parting Glass is a rollercoaster of fun and drama culminating in an anti-romcom that explores the toll a breakup has on a person’s life and their subsequent journey to healing and self-discovery. This warming tale follows Mikey Murphy, a man deeply in love and overly attached to his girlfriend, whose world crumbles when she ends their relationship, partly due to a tattoo, the night before their anniversary.

In this heart-warming tale inspired by true events and a real trip to Ireland, Mikey Murphy’s world shatters when his girlfriend ends their relationship on the eve of their anniversary. Despite the heartbreak, Mikey decides to go on the romantic Irish holiday he had planned, accompanied by his best friend, Conor. A disastrous night out leads to unexpected encounters, including a punch to the face by a local woman. Disaster strikes again as Conor is forced to leave Ireland and Mikey, after some time alone in the strange city makes an unlikely friend with the same woman who punched him in the face, Billie. As they explore the city together, Mikey finds solace and a newfound connection to his family history. However, complications arise when Billie lies about a call from Mikey’s ex. During their time alone, she makes a move on Mikey in hopes to win his heart again, he rejects his ex’s attempts to reignite their relationship. Realizing Billie was right, he rushes to Ireland to apologise, salvaging their friendship through some public embarrassment.

The Parting Glass is a cultural product that is both feel-good and entertaining. As an investment opportunity, it represents authenticity and originality with a co-production between Britain and Ireland. The film has a low carbon footprint due to its dialogue-driven nature, small cast, and local setting primarily in Cork, promoting local filming opportunities.
