This tense drama is defused with humour revealing a satisfying end, poignant to so many who struggle understanding separation from the eyes of a young boy. Market analysis shows there is high demand for high quality production shorts, capturing audience attention and trending on social media and festivals to develop further into features.

Inspired by the lyrics and music of 90s hip-hop artist, Guru. ‘GURU’ is a story that looks at the impact of positive masculinity. Yes, Guru begins our story as an unlikeable, roguish character. But he’s playing a role. He has too. He works on the streets. Yet, as our story unfolds, we discover there’s more to Guru than meets the eye. Deep down he’s a sensitive, intelligent and emotional man that understands the complexity of life. Which when you listen to Guru’s hip-hop music, perfectly encapsulates all of his intricate, streetwise and life-affirming philosophies. This is a delicate, charming, funny yet gritty comedy-drama that shines a light on positive male roles and a child’s perspective on a volatile marriage breakdown. Unlike Archie, writer/ director, Jamie never had a ‘GURU’ to support him through his parents’ divorce. It’s for this reason, this project brings so much passion and enthusiasm from our director as it directly correlates to Jamie’s own upbringing along with thousands of other young children who suffer during a divorce.
