It’s like a heist movie but with kids and a lesson to be learned. And I feel like it can be more than that with the right expression: a small window into kids finding their identity and forging friendships. I’m not interested in the adult’s reaction to the kids’ mischief, I’ m here to focus on the kids teaching themselves a lesson in empathy, and principle. Not the adults, nor the discipline, this story is purely about how we learn from how we treat our peers. I feel like the short will not benefit from displaying the adult’s facial expressions and reactions to the kids, on the contrary I feel like it would take away screen time from the more important reactions and reflections of the kids. Also by keeping the adult’s faces and expressions a mystery from the audience, we would create much more impactful storytelling and could allow for more comedic effect to keep the story lighter, not too heavy handed. This doesn’t mean that we will not be showing body language and framing, on the contrary we will have a lot more creative freedom to show different actions and reactions, without too many meaningless shots/reverse shots. Tom and jerry style. From tom and jerry: The decision to keep her face hidden adds to the comedic effect, allowing viewers to focus on her actions and the reactions of Tom and Jerry without revealing her identity. This technique also plays into the classic animation trope of exaggerating characters' physical attributes while maintaining a sense of mystery.
